High Risk Valve Center

The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation is at the forefront of innovative therapies for complex valve disorders. MHIF’s complex valve research portfolio includes both surgical and percutaneous approaches to find better methods of treating heart valve disease.
Heart valve disease is variable in nature. It may be a stiffening of the valve (stenosis) which causes a decreased blood flow out of the heart or a valve that doesn’t close completely, allowing blood to leak back (insufficiency) into the heart. The approach to treating heart valve disease depends on the severity and on the patient. At MHIF a team of Cardiac Imaging experts, Cardiac Surgeons and Interventional Cardiologists have created a Complex Valve clinic which allows an integrated approach to patient care and research.
