What began in 1982 with a few friends of Wayzata stockbroker Jerry Kiernan,
continues today as the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation Research Golf
Classic.
Since those earliest days, the Classic has grown to generate $100,000
annually to benefit the Foundation and its research and education programs.
During its 19-year history, the Classic has raised more than $1.7 million.
The generosity and loyalty of sponsors and participants make the Classic one of
our community's oldest and most successful golf events.
The photos shown here represent just a few of the 47 sponsors and 175 players
from this year's event, which raised $103,000. The Golden Valley Country Club
has been the course of choice for the Foundation event for the past 13
years.
