Women’s Heart Health
The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation’s Women’s Heart Health Program is women-centered, and through our education, clinical care and research programs, we are ensuring that all women have access to resources to enhance their health and well-being.
- Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death for women
- 1 out of every 3 women will develop cardiovascular disease
- Women are more likely to die with their first heart attack compared to men
- Fewer than three in 10 women perceive cardiovascular disease as their greatest health threat.

As part of the Embrace program, an attractive gift bag is presented by one of the Women’s Only Support Group staff or volunteers to female patients on the hospital’s cardiovascular units. This gift provides an introduction to the support group and extends our care to outside the hospital setting.
