Minnesota Monthly 2025 top doctors for women

Congratulations to two Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute® physicians and partners of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) who were recently named in the 2025 Top Doctors for Women by Minnesota Monthly:

  • Retu Saxena, MD
  • Elizabeth Tuohy, MD

Minnesota Monthly’s Top Doctors List is made up of physicians recognized and voted for from amongst their peers in the 11-county metro area based on a list provided by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. Physicians who received the highest number of votes are reflected by specialty in the Top Doctors list.

We are so proud of these physicians and all our partners at Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute, which is recognized internationally as one of the world’s leading providers of heart and vascular care. Drs. Saxena and Tuohy have both contributed in many meaningful ways to the work at MHIF, including leading groundbreaking cardiovascular research, as well as community and clinician education. For the past several years, both Drs. Saxena and Tuohy have also participated in Hope, Health & Heart, a yearly event promoting women’s heart health and awareness in our local community, under the Penny Anderson Women’s Cardiovascular Center at MHIF.

We are grateful for the partnership of our physician researchers who support our mission to improve the cardiovascular health of individuals and communities through innovative research and education—congratulations on this recognition!
