We are proud to recognize a physician whose leadership and service continue to shape the future of cardiovascular care.

Dr. Charles Gornick is the 2026 recipient of the Robert G. Hauser Leadership Award. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate visionary leadership while advancing research, strengthening clinical practice and supporting the mission of MHIF. It also honors the legacy of Dr. Hauser, a physician leader and founder whose work helped establish MHIF as a leader in cardiovascular research and innovation.

“I'm truly honored and to receive this prestigious award and I'm also humble in the fact that it's the support of all of my colleagues and staff workers that supported me through the years to allow me to receive this award,” said Dr. Gornick.

“I just feel extremely blessed that I'm in the position that I'm in and that I've had the opportunities that I've had. One of the things about the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, it's a tremendous resource for all of the physicians – it makes us think big, it makes us think forward, and it makes us think about striving to provide the best clinical care for our patients by pushing the forefront.”

This recognition reflects more than individual achievement. It highlights the dedication, collaboration and shared purpose that drive progress in patient care. Behind every honoree is a network of colleagues, mentors and care teams working together to improve outcomes and expand what is possible in cardiovascular medicine.

As we celebrate Dr. Gornick, we also recognize the ongoing commitment of our physician partners. Their expertise and leadership continue to move MHIF’s mission forward — advancing research, improving clinical care and making a lasting impact in our community.
