I heard about the program from an intern in the 2022 cohort, which led me to apply for and participate in the internship last summer. After an amazing experience as an intern in 2023, I will be returning this summer as Lead Intern.
During my sophomore year at the University of Minnesota, I was able to tour the Visible Heart Laboratory, led by Dr. Iaizzo. I was in awe of the history and groundbreaking cardiovascular research occurring there. Ever since then, I have been fascinated by the heart and the field of cardiovascular medicine.
I am still exploring options and specialties within medicine, but I would love to be able to participate in both research and clinical work as a physician.
I am excited to meet the 2024 cohort and develop lasting relationships and memories with the other interns, as this was one of my favorite aspects of the program last year.
I would like to expand my knowledge and experiences surrounding clinical research and immerse myself in various shadowing and learning opportunities.
I will continue with MHIF as a Clinical Research Associate during my gap year.
I love to golf and play pickleball in the summer!
